Sun set and ready to go!

This weekend kicks off summer's official welcome and many of us are stocking up on sun protectors and soothers that will keep your skin safe from burning.

Here's a look at the new direction in sun protection.

Shower-on the sunscreen
imageStart your day by soaping SPF on in a new way- with a bar of soap.Bethesda Sunscreen Soap is all-natural and provides 50+ vitamins, minerals and amino acids to your skin, while leaving a minimum of SPF 10 on the skin. [Safe for kids too!]

How high should you go
imageSPF levels have reached triple digits, likeNeutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch Sunblock, SPF 100+, while others are upping the ante to keep up with their competitors. Does it really matter? Dr. Ilyse Lefkowicz, MD Board Certified Dermatologist in private practice in New York City, says, "I'm not sure that an SPF of 100 is any better than an SPF of 50. More importantly one should stick with larger, trusted, well known brands that offer UVA and UVB coverage and that have gone through rigorous testing." So if you already purchased your trusty SPF 30 you will be just fine as long as you apply a heavy dose and reapply.

Sunscreen+Skin Care Ingredients
imageimageSunscreens are working harder than ever to provide dual protection to the skin. The common duty of providing high SPF and UVA/UVB protection gets better and goes deep beyond surface level, while adding antioxidants and superior moisturizers to keep the skin strong and supple.

EYE believe
imageThe thin skin around the eyes are vulnerable and need targeted protection. Marketers are getting savvy to this and launching eye-specific sunscreens.

Powder Play

Sensitive Skin
imageFaithful followers will be happy to hear that Cetaphil , the #1 dermatologist-recommended brand, has a new addition to the line. Cetaphil UVA/UVB Defense SPF 50 is Dr. Lefkowicz's new favorite find and she shares, "It is the highest sunscreen available in a facial moisturizer."

Skin soother
After a day of sun, Vaseline Aloe Fresh collection offers everyday care and protection and leaves the skin feeling hydrated and refreshed- especially in summer.
