Cosmetically elegant defense.

With summer temperatures on the rise, and outdoor activities consuming most of our lives, now is the opportune time to try out some of the new sun care products. You will be happy you did, trust me, here's why.

imageThe beauty bonus is that formulas are sheerer, lighter without all that white stuff. The finish is invisible and matte so it doesn't look shiny or greasy. This makes it easier for you to layer your favorite cosmetics if you choose. They are also smaller and more portable in size to toss into a cooler, beach bag or even pocket. Some are paraben-free like the SkinCeuticals Sheer Physical UV Defense SPF 50, which is a transparent, non-irritating fluid thanks to its minimized use of chemicals.

Others I love...
image-Neutrogena's Ultra Sheer Liquid Sunblock Fluid, SPF 55 and 70 are perfect for every day wear and is water-light, absorbing instantly. And this product is the first 'fluid sunblock" to be available in drugstores.
image-EmerginC spf 30+ (also available in tint) contains added hydrators, vitamins, antioxidants, and herbal extracts.

image-La Roche-Posay's cult-favorite Athelios line has introduced Athelios 60 Ultra-Light Fluid-also known as "Shaka Shaka" meaning better mixing for easier application. The formula is fabulous and thin offering high UVA protection with CELL-OX Shield, a two-pronged delivering system; one defending the sun and the other protecting against antioxidants right down to the cellular level.

Application tips from the pros at Neutrogena...
-Studies have shown that consumers 'under-apply' sunscreen. Dermatologist-recommend 1 oz. of sunscreen, about a shot glass sized amount for the entire body, rational accordingly for the face and when in doubt apply more.
-Sunscreens should be applied to dry skin 15-30 minutes before going outdoors.
-These spots are often forgotten: lips, top of hands, ears, nose, neck and feet.
-Reapply at least every two hours, or according to the product's instruction

Don't forget to rub it until it melts into the skin. Be spotted wearing the perfect shades, not white on your face.
