The REAL secret to perfect looking skin.

imageI am going to dive right into the new year delivering facts and information to kickstart your healthy skin habits. Yes, drinking water, eating a well-balance diet and exercising all help promote good skin care. But what products really do help get rid of wrinkles and skin damage? There are many products on the market that deliver results for some, but not for others. I always get the BIG question, "You try it all, but what skin care products really work?" Other than injections and surgical treatments I can stand proud and commit myself to stating Retinol (aka TRETINOIN) works miracles. If many of you have been following my posts on Renova, you will know that I have had a very positive reaction and experience with this "wonder Queen wrinkle diminisher".

For me, the Gold Standard means a prescription strength retinol product. It is available only with a doctor's authorization and delivers retinoids in its most powerful strength. I have been using Renova and prefer this formula due to its cream-like texture and moisturizing base. This also means it's slightly more tolerable for sensitive skin. I started off slowly in June '09,but really began using it on a regular basis in September. I couldn't believe my eyes-literally-when I went back for my follow-up visit in December. Dr. Bank and his assistant were just as amazed as I. Photos taken in June showed an uneven, highly pigmented sun damaged skin with deep wrinkles on the forehead and eyes. Well, the after shots taken under the same light, camera, etc, showed a smoother, even skin tone with less lines. Trust me, I still have fine lines, but I believe they are less obvious and what was so startling was the uneven skin tone due to the sun is diminishing. All that dark pigmentation that many of you complain is slowly fading. Dr. Bank assured me that with continued use I am on the right road to an even more clearer, smoother complexion.

My quest for the ONE item that conquers aging has been tried, tested and touted. Unfortunately, not all skin types can tolerate it, but it is worth a try and if prescription strength fairs to strong on your skin these over the counter products are worthy of a try: RoC Deep Wrinkle Serum, SkinCeuticals Retinol 0.5 Refining Night Cream, and philosophy help me.

For those of you who are curbing your beauty spending, say bye to expensive brands and invest in a doctor's appointment plus retinol prescription. Total cost should cost be approximately $200-$250 (doctor's visit + retinol cream/gel). This should last a good eight months or even longer if you use it less. I promise you won't regret it!

Getting numerous requests for me to share images.... I promise I will! I am requesting them from Dr. Bank and will post them as scary as they looked, but at least improvement has been made!!!

Stay tuned, starting this week great stories to kick off the New Year... a favorite line turns natural, and next week the top beauty trends/products to kick-off the 2010!
