Rah-rah-ah-ga-ga-ooh-la Over Gray

Fall’s HOT nail colors.

imageYes, we are still immersed in the sounds, temperatures and fashions of summer. I will break the news slowly readers, fall is around the corner. I promise not to overwhelm you with shades of autumn; at least just yet, or share Holiday Beauty Gift Ideas, which I started receiving. But I will put a few color trends on your radar for nails, as this seems to be the easiest feature to transition into pre-Labor Day.

Lady Gaga starts off the story as she poses on the cover of September's Vanity Fair.

I went directly to the leading fashion manicurist at the shoot, Deborah Lippmann (also the creator of the Deborah Lippman nail collection) to find out the hot shades to be wearing.

"I was looking at the clothes, the shoes and the accessories trying to decide what color to paint then it happened. I connected with her hair. They gave her this soft silvery mane, and I thought... perfect."

imageimage Waking Up in Vegas was the match. And this shade isn't the same murky, greige shade from last season. It is less beige and more "heather-gray". It was spotted on the Fall Runways and being recognized as the imageseason's hottest shade. Variations to look out for are seen either in its lightest tone like Revlon's newly launching matte shade Powder Puff to darker popular must-haves like CND Colour in Aspalt and Topshop's Make Up Nails in Big Smoke (available in September) to a real season statement maker like Chanel's Le Vernis Paradoxal's touch of dark gray-violet.

image"Would gray alone get you through the season?" Absolutely not. Deborah cleverly captured Lady Gaga's larger than life persona in a bottle and named it Bad Romance- a moody, dark brilliant glitter polish, which will move your nails right into a post-summer cooler weather flow. With or without the sparkle berries, deep dark plums/purples (like NARS Tokaido Express Nail Polish), the new Brodeaux shade- not quite brown; not quite Bordeaux (like Zoya's Cola) and neutral clay and coffee tones (like Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Bittersweet) should definitely be front-runners for those trendsetting fingers and toes.
