February 23rd, 2012

An art that promises to get better.

imageThe saying lately is "You're not dressed until your nails are" and the heck with your mascara or lipstick making you feel complete.

Moving into spring, nails continue to go positively wild in pops of neon colors, marbleized designs, jeweled strips and stripes that any zebra would admire. The beauty and ease of nail stickers make this look easy to capture and takes minutes to do yourself.

The array of nail art reign supreme as you walk down the drugstore aisle. New Kiss Nail Dress--- Fashion that Sticks is the update your nails will be begging for, especially since there is no dry time. Available in 18 patterns and textures.

imageFall 2012 Runway Report
Hot off the runway for Fall 2012 there are mixed signals of strikingly bold nails as seen at Nicole Miller and some models flaunted noticeable nudes resembling a line of foundation shades.Similar to painting techniques, nudes of various shades are used to create a soft wash of ombre on the nail giving a hint of unexpected texture. The end look is a sun-washed reflection or as some are referring to "terracotta manicures" as seen at. At Christian Cota the "Terra Cotta" ombre effect manicure was created with CND Colour in Chocolate Milk and Putty and then softened with CND Super Matte Top Coat to combine the two colors while still wet to finish the look And at Giles, Marian Newman for CND designed a burnt parchment-inspired nail using a combination of colors to achieve the perfect shade. This warm gradation of color is sophisticated and especially doable for someone like me who prefers subtle attention to the nails.

Or opt for a a modern nude, called Bandage(middle shade), as used by designer Alex Wang in collaboration with Sally Hansen. Sorry, this polish won't be available until the fall.
