Did The Polar Vortex Leave You High And Dry?

January 10th, 2014

~Here are a few solutions.

The polar vortex may be heading north, but while it was here it played havoc with your skin. Here are some solutions to help replenish, rehydrate and nourish those important parts of our body.

image~ All over moisturizers, including ones for the face, should include ceramides. Ceramides are already found, which are found in the skin’s outer layer and help the skin retain moisture. Repeated exposure to the elements might deplete ceramide levels in your skin and compromise your outer skin layer. By using a product containing ceramides, like Curel products, you help replenish and repair the skin by forming a protective barrier and keeping future irritants out.

- OILS are all the rage! Whether you use them for your hair, skin or body, this is a superb way to nourish your hair and skin with Omegas, Vitamin C, Marine Algae and so many more good for you ingredients. Here are a few of my favorites and ones I can't wait to try:

imageFor the HAIR: Alterna CAVIAR: Omega[+] Nourishing Oil, $38, It is said to increase shine by 250% and improve overall hair condition by 80% with the Omega[+] Nourishing Oil. This anti-aging treatment is ideal for women with dry, dull, aging hair- like ME!

For the FACE: There are so many out there right now that work wonders on the skin without any oil leftover. The latest introductions are NUDE Skincare ProGenius Treatment Oil, $78, which is gluten-free and perfect for vegans (and non-vegans too), and delivers over 10 plant oils and omegas 3-6-7-9 and Algenist Advanced Anti-Aging Repairing Oil, is one big powerhouse oil that targets it all: spots, wrinkles, dryness with the use of brown algae and ceramides that does the trick.

- Besides robbing our skin of moisture, this frigid cold also damages our skin! Below zero temps doesn't fair well on our skin and you should consider serums that help brighten, boost collagen, protects and adds a healthy (not frozen) glow back to our skin. Ironically, both my recommendations has a chill in the name, but maybe because they know a thing or two about healing and dealing with skin that is compromised due to the weather and outside aggressors. Freeze 24-7’s latest launch, IceSerum Advanced Brightening Facial Serum is an instant skin brightener and hydrator that utilizes an exclusive White Strawberry Extract ingredient from Japan (it’s the first time this ingredient has been used in skincare!) to dramatically diminish age spots and hyperpigmentation for more youthful looking skin. IceSerum hits shelves this month, perfect timing to help heal.
imageSkyn Iceland Arctic Elixir i is a serum that helps boost collagen and offers immediate soothing and long term protection to the skin.
