I was at a Clarins event last night learning the latest product news and launches. So many wonderful tips to share, but for today I thought I would focus on their latest sunless tanning product and tips. Since it is the beginning of March, I am sure we are all beginning to get the itch and will be turning to the bottle to achieve a bronze glow. Clarins newest product Delectable Whipped Mousse, looks exactly as it sounds. Resembles a mound of delicious whipped, fluffy cream, which contains nourishers like Mirabelle Oil, a self-tanner and sun protection (SPF 15) all wrapped up in one tub.
Ewa, Clarins Spa Director of the Upper East Side location, was on hand to chat and demonstrate the best way to apply your sunless tanner like a pro. Start with exfoliation. This is key for excellent results. In France, they use a mit to exfoliate the body. The mits look like washcloths that slide right over your hands. It is very effective and does a very good job removing all the dead skin cells. Once your skin is primed and ready, warm the sunless tanner in the palms of your hand and use long, heavy, circular motions to absorb the product into the body. However, Ewa recommends first appyling a light moisturizer over trouble zones like the elbows, ankles, and knees prior to the sunless tanning cream. When applying the sunless tanner on these thicker areas use a light, sweeping movement. TIP: Use the palms of your hands for best effect. Don't forget to wash the tops and palms of the hands well after you are finished. To keep your hands looking like the rest of you, take a spatuala, scoop up a little cream, apply to the tops of the hands and rub both backs together concentrating on fingers too.
The secret to getting the right kind of glow for the face, is to apply sunless tanner by pressing the palms over cheeks, forehead and decolletage. On initial application avoid the eyebrows, eyelids, nose and hairline; however after the cream has absorbed into the other areas lightly go over this area to get a perfect blend.
