AMAZING Face Oils
January 27th, 2015
Call them amazing, or miracle but don't say eeek! to applying facial oil on your face, especially this time of year. Back in the day, women would apply kitchen olive oil on their skin, hair and body, and actually it is still recommended today. But many new oils have been introduced, and these oils leave skin smoother, balanced and beautifully hydrated. One of the biggest questions you might be asking yourself, Won't Oils Make My Skin Look Greasy? No, they will not. Many face oils absorb quickly into your skin, and if they don't they aren't thick so they will leave you with a subtle glow. If this is a BIG concern for you, look for an oil that says 'dry oil' on the label, and this will assure very fast absorption. And personally, I prefer a face oil that is strictly for your face vs. one that can be used on your hair, face and body. (That image above is my personal arsenal line-up.) I feel that hair oils can be thicker, more 'oily' to help in the moisturization of the strands. However, I wouldn't hesitate to smooth any leftover oil on my hands to my hair, but would think twice doing the opposite.
The application of an oil differs from that of a cream. For those who are concerned about applying 'too much' oil, consider applying a few drops on a cotton square, then patting it on to the skin. Or just use your fingertips, but the key is 'pat' the oil into the skin from the sides of your temples down to the cheeks, nose and chin. I sometimes avoid the forehead, but definitely include it in the evening before bedtime.
Some of my favorites range in prices from affordable to super-expensive, I will list them below, and you decide which might be right for you, but go ahead definitely try one or two.
-WELEDA Almond Oil- this is an intensive treatment with 'amazing' results. I use this only at night, since it definitely leaves a layer on the skin, but I highly recommend trying this if your skin is exceptionally dry, or needs an overnight boost of moisturizers. Using it twice a week or more if you desire will produce the results your skin needs to get its 'smooth back'.
-ALGENIST Advanced Anti-Aging Repairing Oil & KATE SOMMERVILLE Dilo Oil Restorative Treatment- these are advanced oils that are definitely not greasy and delivers the performance of a powerful antiaging serum. You can use it in the morning or add a droplet or two into your moisturizer. Both improve the look of firmness and suppleness in the skin.
- Själ Saphir Concentrate Anti-Aging Face- known as a 'liquid silk' treatment (and the price reflects it!) this blend of rare essential oils and an anti-aging bioactive complexis designed to visibly diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, increase elasticity, plump and revitalize skin. Just after one use, you'll feel the softness in your skin plus it smells heavenly.
- Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate- very affordable and has glowing reviews thanks to its distilled botanicals that visibly restores the appearance of skin by morning.
- Melvita Organic Skincare is an organic line of products offering some wonderful 'oil' selections. The only unfortunate thing is they ship from the UK, you can't buy it here in the states, but besides the shipping cost they are very affordable.I particular love the Rose Hip and Carrot Oil, but think they ALL the oils are fabulous, offering moisturizing, firming and improving skin's radiance. I noticed they have a NEW Argan + Dry Oil and I have my eyes on the Avocado for next time around.
- Origins Plantscription Youth-renewing face oil is a quick absorbing oil that contains 20 precious oils from around the world like Argan, Sweet Almond, Sunflower, Rose and Raspberry Oils plus Anogeissus, which helps repair skin's barrier.
