How well do you know your hair?
July 29th, 2010
I admit, not well at all.
A recent P&G Beauty trip to the lovely, innovative offices in Cincinnati revealed some great breakthroughs, a survey of the research laboratories (quite impressive), a meeting of great minds and a hair analysis- mine of course. Funny as it is, I am currently reading Tenth Circle by Jodi Picoult, and at the part where they have found a hair strand with a cuticle attached, which they hope matches the DNA of the killer and ta-da! solve the crime! Similarly, it is amazing at what your hair can reveal under a microscope.
This is how it my mystery unravels... I received a package in the mail yesterday and in it was a photo card of an enlarged viewing of my hair strand under a microscope along with my analysis. And the results amazed me. Since my younger years, I always had-so I thought- fine, thin hair. Therefore, I bought products targeted to this texture, the only change over the years was using products gentle and effective for color-treated hair. After I gave birth to my two beautiful boys, I did notice a change in my hair, but never gave it a second thought that the texture changed. Low and behold right in front of me was my P&G Scanning Electron Microscope Analysis of my hair concluding I have 'thicker/course fiber'. Never, ever have I thought of my hair as thick, but if I really think of my current texture, not the "old texture" of years past it all make sense to me. Thankfully the analysis shares that "I have healthy fiber" and the researcher shares "Nature has given you strong hair, but there's no doubt that styling processes create distress. To generate a healthy status, fiber pliability is key. Penetrating conditioner sustains the cuticle integrity through its protection barrier." At least nature gave me one thing that is strong and firm that I can be proud of, and luckily Pantene Pro-V has a new line of products that enables me to customize the products that I need to suite my specific hair needs.
Pantene has been conducting surveys to help reestablish the Pantene Pro-V line to best fit into their customers daily life. A recent survey that Pantene conducted suggests that 91% of women said they had a problem with their hair, but did not know how to quite combat the issues. Well they answered that one for me. I have been treating my hair with products for the wrong texture and now have revamped my own line. First up will be the new shampoo and condition of Pantene Pro-V for Medium-Thick hair along with a mousse to help keep my hair volumized yet natural looking.
The new line isn't only targeted towards me- that would have been way to special, though it feels it has been- it offers a solution for everyone.
The lineup includes:
-Fine Hair: the Pantene Pro-V Fine Hair Solutions is best for hair that needs a boost with three versions (Flat to Volume; Dry to Moisturized; Fragile to Strong)
-Thick Hair: the Pantene Pro-V Medium Thick Hair Solutions comes in four versions (frizzy to smooth; breakage to strength; dry to moisturized)
