Chill-Proof Your Skin

Tips to keep skin looking its best when the temps drop and go back up.
Last week's effects of frigid temperatures and arctic winds combined with an intermission of warm temps continue to wreak havoc on our skin. This dry air offers no moisture and only irritates the skin even more. Friends are complaining how itchy their skin is, how their flare-ups from eczema are more evident now than ever, and questioning what they can do about their skin that has been zapped of any glow.
Two easy steps and products to use will do the trick: exfoliate and moisturize your whole body. By exfoliating first, you are getting rid of any dull, dead skin cells that is making your skin look lifeless and itchy. In a shower you can simply use a body brush from toes to neck or if this seems to harsh a gentle exfoliator from any brand like Dove Gentle Exfoliating Nourishing Body Wash, $8.99 or St. Ives Exfoliating Apricot Body Scrub, $2.99.
For the face, one of my all time favorites is Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant, $40, because it is so very gentle, but any favorite of yours will do- just be sure it is gentle not abrasive.
Follow this with CeraVe Moisturizing Cream, which is my new favorite find for under $15. My dermatologist highly recommended this because of its non-irritating ingredients and it contains ceramides, which are released throughout the day, so they penetrate deep into the skin to hydrate and nourish long after the moisturizer has been absorbed into the skin. It is also good for the face.
You will see your skin surface from hibernation looking more radiant and healthy minus the itching!
